Archiver's Vintage Chrsitmas Cards 4

Isn't this just YUMMY???  Again, FOUR layers of shimmery cardstock.  Bottom layer, sanded & stamped all over w/a poinsetta stamp.  Looks so very cool!!!  Then, the green was just inked, the 2nd gold left alone & then the white was sanded, stamped in green, distressed & inked.  Then, we embossed teh Christmas greetings in gold & used a glue pen to add flowersoft.  Added stickles to the centers & the dots on the swirls.  SO cool!!!

Going back today for ANOTHER class.  10 Christmas Tags.  I'll share them next week...

Archiver's Vintage Chrsitmas Cards 3

This is my least favorite of the group.  I think it's the black that turns me off.  The ornament is kinda cool but I LOVE the embossing of it.  Awesome!!!!  Once again, sanded glimmery paper & the Coredenations (sp?) paper.

This angel & the sentiment are the reason I never loved this stamp set.  I felt they were both not my style.  Too froo froo, even for Christmas cards.  THIS CARD changed my mind!!!  I LOVE everything in this set now!!  All 4 images are from this set, the angel, the sentiment, the music (seen above & behind the angel) and the crackle (under the angel).  Once again, this is all glimmery paper.  We sanded the heck out of the gold & I think it looks soooo cool!!  Then, stamped the crackle w/walnut stain.  The angle & music are a black ink & then the sentiment was stamped in versamark & embossed w/distress embossing powder.  Then we "smeared" walnut, peeled paint & pumice stone on the edges.

Then, the BEST part was the GLITTER!!!!!

We just used regular ballpoint pen glue & scribbled as if the Angel were throwing glitter.  But this glitter is MEGA COOL.  And Mega Chunky!!!  I loved it so much I had to buy it.  Champagne Crushed Glass Glitter!!!!  Gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking of it.

I will be making a version of this for Christmas.  If you get it, try to look surprised!!

Archiver's Vintage Chrsitmas Cards 1

Took a class for my birthday, ON my birthday.  It was soooo much fun!!  I love Archiver's classes and especially anything that is based on Tim Holtz products.

This was my favorite card, going in!!  I loved the silhouette.  We covered it in shabby embossing powder.  It's these GIANT chunks of white embossing powder w/chunks of gold glitter.  Awesome!!!  And, the bottom is glitter ribbon.  It's so cool.  Should have taken a close up of that!  There are poinsettias stamped all over the background but VERY SUBTLE!

All the cards in this class were made some very cool shimmery card stock.  We sanded almost all the shimmer off & then stamped.  Very cool technique.  Next time I'm in Archiver's, I'm going to have to buy some of that paper.  I think the card could be made just as easily with regular card stock..

This is an EXTREME close up of the embossing.  You can see the red of the background stamp.  One of the girls wiped hers off & all of it turned PINK.  I said I'd just leave mine, you can't tell it from a "real life" distance.  LOL

Archivers Unity Class

Tag made at the class.  I like the "idea" of this flower but not my execution.  I liked the ones Angie did at Palooza better.

Archivers Unity Class

This card we actually COMPLETED in class.  Making the roses was difficult to say the least.  I was NOT happy w/the results no matter WHAT I did.  Well, I tried to squish it a bit to make it look better & it SQUISHED but good. Well, I REALLY like how that looked.  The added benefit; it should be able to be mailed now!

Stamps, Unity.  Ink, TH Distress.  DSP, cosmo cricket

Archivers Unity Class

One of the cards I made at the Unity class.  I did this one at home as we ran out of time AT the class.  I loved the projects and getting to KEEP THE STAMPS!!!  Woot woot!!  Love getting some new Unity.  And, I was able to pick up my SMASH book while at Archivers!!!  I'm a HAPPY GIRL!!!!

Stamps, Unity.  DSP, I think it's Cosmo Cricket.  Ink, TH Distress Inks.

5 Fonts ATC

Ok, I kinda feel like I cheated on this one.  The 5 different fonts are all in the one stamp.  I went thru tons of different stamps trying to get related words in different fonts but couldn't come up w/anything cohesive.  I do like how this one turned out!  I love the green/purple combo!

Stamps:  either Ippity or Unity; I can't remember which.  Ink:  Pallet Hybrid. Cardstock & DSP:  SU

Whoa, it's been a LONG time!!!

I've got a TON of stuff to share!!  I'm going to do my best to get some stuff posted & some stuff that will post over the next couple days (weeks???)   I've taken pics of ALL the ATCs I've done (except that baby one I did for Jennifer, forgot to take a pic of that!) but NONE of the cards I have made have gotten a pic done.  Dang!  I need to send more cards!!!

Be prepared!!!

Tim Holtz Class

This is the last & probably my favorite card that I did at archivers.  I love the doily look of the b/g stamp & LOVE those canvas shapes!!!  Plus, who can resist a stick pin?!?!?

Tim Holtz Class

I do LOVE this card.  I have never been all that jazzed by this die but I think I might be now!!  Painted the wings, embossed the crown & covered the heart with stickles!!  I'm not sure you can see but the background is embossed too!  I love tying the twine around various elements.  I need to incorporate that into more of my swaps!  I also think I NEED that tiny attacher thing.  The tiny staples are so cute!!

Tim Holtz Class

While I LOVE the way this card turned out, I HATE those flowers.  I'm sure Archviers wanted us to buyt the 4 punches and the tool kit to make these flowers but the were toooo much!!  Punch them, ink them and then use a tool to curl them.  Nuh uh!!!!  I LOVE the ribbons stacked up & the cupid!!

Orange & Purple

I made what I thought was a PERFECT purple & orange ATC for Chris's swap.  She never got it & never got it.  So, I made a different one & sent it to her.  I don't LOVE this as much as I did the first one but maybe that's 'cause I KNEW it was a replacement.  I think this is a Unity stamp & I KNOW the DSP is Basic Grey.

Last week, I got a USPS "body bag" and the original ATCs were returned to me.  Chris' name was ripped thru so they sent it back to me.  ATCs were not damaged!!!  I'll have to come up with a swap theme that fits & host one of my own!

Tim Holtz Valentine Class

Ever so long ago, I took a class at Archivers.  I've just never got around to posting the pics!  Now that Valentines Day was a MONTH ago, I'll post.  LOL

I liked the IDEA of this card but my execution of it left something to be desired.  I'm going to have to try this on another card.  Maybe one I can actually do properly.

October Afternoon ATC Swap

I hosted a swap with the only stipulation that you use October Afternoon paper.  This is my ATC from the swap.  A month or so ago, Lori (I THINK it was Lori; Lori was the one to send me star cut outs!) showed us how to make these 3D stars but much LARGER sizes.    I thought that a smaller version would work great for this paper.  I love how the end product came out!  The grid star is from Unity, the orange one is a punch!

Love, love, lovel, love!

Love is in the air.  That's Chris' swap theme.  Applies a TH Mask to white cardstock.  Sprayed with Glimmer Mist.  Then, before removing the mask, I stamped w/my Ippity music stamp.  LOVE how it turned out.  Now, if Chris ever got them....

More Snow?

I could have SWORN I've already posted this but, I didn't see it when I searched my blog.  I think this was for a swap Angie was hosting.  This was one of my first SU sets.  I bought this back when I didn't know how to color images.  In fact, I HAD no coloring mediums!!  Kinda surprised I didn't get rid of this set for just that reason.  But, I'm glad I kept it.

Blue & Green

Chris did a couple of color combo swaps!!  I had this old SU paper I got on clearance and it was PERFECT for the blue & green swap.  You can't tell but I squirted the white paper w/glimmer mist.  made it look really cool but, made it VERY hard to glue down properly.  The paper curled & didn't want to stay to the mat.

I got your goat!!

For a goat ATC swap.  Digital goat, paper pieced.  I really liked this goat.  Aparently, so did everyone 'cause 2 other people used the same goat.

My blogs are for the birds!!

Go check out my 365 blog for EAGLE pics and a rather boring hawk pic.

And here, I have bird cards today & tomorrow.  LOL  Made these at Debi's SU party last month.  This is my new favorite, must have set!!!  It's so awesome!!

Baby Baby!

Another card from the SU party!  I needed a baby congrats card so I picked pinks to do this spinner card.  The arrow is just a brad.

Plane & Simple

I LOVE how the clouds turned out on this card.  We took a Scallop circle punchie & inked around the edges of it.  So simple but SO EFFECTIVE!!!  Now, I'm ready for my dad's birthday!!!

Happy Birthday

Another project from our recent stamp camp.  All supplies SU.  Sent this to my newest SIL for her birthday last week ;)

Thursday, February 3, 2011

That's Amour!

Went to a SU party and made some cards!!  This is my least favorite but that's only 'cause I HATE how the ripped paper turned out.  I am NOT GOOD on random; I can't tear, I can't stamp random backgrounds (see the big, blank space under the heart?) and I can't do jaunty angles.

All supplies SU

Sick, sick, the poor thing's sick

When I was in fifth grade, I played Mabel in the "Rosy Cheeked Ghost".  My only line was "sick, sick, the poor thing's sick".  This has been ME for the last 3 days!!!  Horrible cough I can't get over.  There's nothing the doctor can do so I suck on Halls (sugar free, of course!) eat ice cream bars (NOT sugar free) and gag down cough syrup.  Nothing works much.  I have pics to post and will hopefully get them up here SOON!!!

Call your hat a home

For Sherri's birdhouse swap.  This is a VERY old SU set.  I LOVE it & love the opportunity to use it!!!Basic Grey paper from my stash, colored w/SU markers.

Steampunk!

For Kirtsty's swap.  Now, to be fair, I didn't add quite so many "gears" to all the ATCs, others just go 2.  I had a bunch left over & just started gluing them to my ATC.  This was FUN!

Polar Bear

I bought this paper a couple of years ago.  I fell in LOVE with the cute polar bear on the paper.  I looked everywhere for the matching stamp but couldn't find it!  I even searched ONLINE (if you know me, I NEVER order online!!!) Never could find it.  Finally, one day, casually strolling thru Michael's, there he was!!!!  Then, Angie posted a Polar Bear swap.  HOT DOG!!!!  I love it when a plan comes together!!!

Peace!!

For Sherri's wreath swap.  I thought I was so far outside the box on this "wreath".  Turns out, Chris used the same one.  LOL  I'm getting kinda bored w/my ATCs.  They all seem to look the same but I don't know what to do to make them better.  I was VERY rushed on the latest batch & there was no time to think of new techniques.  They need some "tweaking" tho!!!

Give me a kiss!!!

When I joined Sherri's Mistletoe swap, I KNEW I had no Mistletoe stamps.  But, I figured I had some stamps I could working leaves & berries.  Well, I didn't.  As the deadline approached, I got DESPERATE.  I searched for digital stamps.  It's AMAZING how many people don't know the difference between Holly & Mistletoe.  Even stamp designers!!!  I bought a digital stamp.  But, once I got it, I didn't like it.  So, I found this free mistletoe circle.  Then, I found a blog where a woman made mistletoe out of the SU Bird punch.  Eureka!!!  Love how it turned out.  And, for stamping purists (me included) there is "real" stamping on the red scalloped circle, although you can barely see it.  LOL

Can you take MORE Christmas?

In honor of my tree STILL being up, I'll share some Holiday themed ATCs I've done recently.  I think both were for Sherri's swaps.  Santa and the elf stamps are both from the same set the Becca got me for Christmas last year.  Just colored Santa but paper-pieced the elf.

It's (gonna be) A Girl!!!

Scott's niece is pregnant & they know it's going to be a girl.  They are keeping the name to themselves for now.  We had a shower for Christie on Sunday & this is the card I made for her.  This is the very first stamp I ever bought!!!  Got it at a LSS that has long since closed!!  I think it turned out very cute & girlie!  This is the first girl born into (Scott's side of) the family since Becca!!  All 4 of my MIL's great-grandchildren & Aunt Jackie's one are all boys!!!  Time for some PINK!!!

It's Mrs. Claus

For Chris' Mrs Claus swap.  It's HARD to find a stamp of just the Missus!!  This is a digital stamp.  Cut out all the pieces for the hat, dress & apron.  There is stickles on the holly leaves.

Last Christmas Card

This is the last & my FAVORITE of the Christmas cards.  Doesn't have much stamping but was really ALOT of work to distress EVERY piece of paper!!!!  And, the worst thing is, I STOLE the whole idea from another stamper!!  Check out JenMarie's inspiration here.  Of course, I SAY inspiration but I changed NOTHING except I dyed my baker's twine so it wasn't quite so WHITE.  I truly LOVE the results!!
